This is a short personal policy regarding AI usage in my day to day life. It is not a policy on what I think about AI nor how I think AI should be built, created, banned, regulated, etc. It actually goes beyond AI usage, but for now this is its best home.
My favourite format for this sort of thing is writing a set of principles that I can revisit. I prefer this instead of rules which risk becoming outdated and inflexible surprisingly fast.
- Replace chore, not thought.
- Imperfection is valid; in fact, it is encouraged.
- Never ever delegate personality.
- Prioritise simple and intentional.
- Never deny exploration, but measure its cost wisely.
- No matter what, do not pretend.
- Always strive to understand the .
That's it. I really encourage anyone using AI for any sort of endeavor, especially creative ones, to stop and write out a personal policy. Even if it's on a throwaway napkin but pausing for a moment and thinking about it is better than mindlessly letting it take over your output.
